Same really, of the 2,000 plus I have, I have only ever bought one certificate!
Thank you for the advice William, I've posted on the Staffordshire board, I know the brides home area, so hopefully that'll give some indication to the venue and maybe find the parish record for the marriage!

Regards,
Joel

Hi

I don't know if this will help but on the National Probate Calendar there is a record for an Edward Griffiths of 32 Railway Terrace, Briton Ferry, Glamorgan, who died 1st June 1940, on war service. Administration was granted in London on the 11th Sept, to Janet Griffiths & Kate Lavinia Vaughan, widows. Effects left were £1307 2s 4d.

Not sure what the "widows" means but I think this could be the chap in the Navy. :-\

Are there are any other Edward Griffiths whom died, lets say between 1935-1945?
if any fit the bill of my Edward?

You have done really well Joel if this is the case and they are all correct.
I notice a published tree (yours I think?) which has lovely photos of family members. It has Edward Griffiths son of Alice G and Edward Spencer but has the death of Edward (ERV Griffiths)  in Sicily. Now this man was 20 yrs old when he died - born 1923.

I really think you need a copy of the marriage certificate to find his father's name and try to work back. It is a pity to spoil a tree with incorrect information.

best wishes

Hi

"I know there's a photo of him somewhere in uniform"

If you could get hold of this photo and post it on the Armed Forces forum, this may identify his Regiment, and reduce the search numbers for Heywoods link

To heywood, that is my tree, but I've made a mistake with Edwards death a while ago which is the Sicilly one, I need to fix it up. I've also do not have my ancestry account currently, so I lack access to records.
That side of the family has proved difficult to track!
But I've also managed to get some old photos, one of which could be my great great great grandmother, which is quite remarkable!

I've tried the cwgc, to no avail really /:

I'll have to speak to My nan tonight and see if she knows of its location :)
