hi, am struggling to find the kemsley family in the 1861 census.

john b 1881 in hollingbourne, kent,
 wife charlotte b 1821 hadlow, kent,
 children eliza ann 1845 maidstone
john 1847 maidstone
stanford 1850 shrewsbury
mark 1853 shrewsbury

a n other b 14.03.1854 shrewsbury
arthur b 1857 shrewsbury

trying to find out who a n other is (this is from fam bible)  cannt find the fam in 1861.  nor can i find any record of a n other being born altho have found a death jan 1854 in oswestry of a mary kemsley.  could the baby have died at birth in hospital and never been baptised or registered. oswestry is quite a way from shrewsbury i think.

any help much appreciated.

Hi there
There does only seem to be one family Kemsley having children in Shrewsbury.And there is an Emily Kemsley registered  Mar 1855 6a 629 which may fit the bill.She then seems to disappear from Shrewsbury but there is a marriage at Atcham Sep 1876 6a 1101 which is where there is a marriage for Frederick and Rose in 1882 and 1885.

Found by searching for Stanford without the surname.  Will type out full details if you need them.

There is a daughter called Emily age 6, listed between Mark & Arthur.

Emily Kemsley born 14th march 1855 / chtistened 15th april 1855 at St Chads Shrewsbury - parents John Kemsley and Charlotte

John was born 1819 in Hollingbourne,Kent according to the 1871 census
children of John and Charlotte...all christened St Chads ,Shrewsbury
Emily ...
Rose - 22nd may 1864 christened - birth 20th april 1864
Mark - 22nd july 1852- born 5th july 1852
Stamford - 10th feb 1850 born 1st jan 1850

there are other children for a John Kemsley and Charlotte , but they are in London / Kent area ....before 1850.....

knew of all the other children fromm fam bible that cousin holds, but for some reason the print i received just said a n other.  the fam came from maidstone in kent where their first two children were born,  have now been in touch with a relative, our great grandmothers were cousins,.

did find them all on the 1861 census one of ancestrys mis transcriptions, instead of kemsley they were down as hunslet, lol.
