WILLIAM BAGWORTH b 1818 Ryhall, Rutland
« on: Tuesday 16 October 12 19:03 BST (UK) »
William Bagworth was baptised at Ryhall on 10th May 1818 the illegitimate son of Mary Bagworth.  The records show that he was born in the Workhouse, but which I do not know.  His ancestry is proving to be an obstacle as I can find no other previous records of him or Mary.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

There were 2 WH's in Rutland

Ryehall came under the Stamford registration district which was mainly in Lincolnshire but also partly in Rutland

Whilst I see you are interested in William's ancestry I can give you more details of him & children.

It seems he died and was buried in Ryhall on 23/12/1861 leaving his wife  Eliza with:-
William b 1853  a Groom
John Thos b 1857
Eliza b 1859
Owen b 1862 - after his death possibly - all b Ryhall

His wife was a Laundress living at The Green Dragon in Ryhall in 1871 with these children.
In 1851 Wm was with wife Eliza and dau Mary Ann b 1851 at 9 Reaches, Eye, Peterborough Northants.
John Thos was the landlord of The Foundry Arms, a beerhouse in Ryhall bet 1899 & 1900.

Eliza was on her own in 1891 at Bourn Road Ryhall - cant find her in 1881.

If I can find any more info further back I will make another post.

There were two Mary Bagworths, both appear to be in the same family, daughters of Joseph and Susannah Bagworth, one bapt 22 Jun 1795 the other 7 Oct 1804 at Tydd St Giles. Have yet to confirm the death of the Mary bapt 1795.

William was married to Eliza Hill on 25 December 1849 both of Easton on the Hill. On the marriage certificate the name is Thomas Bagworth of full age.

What is your link to the Bagworth family?

I have no connection to the Bagworths I merely responded to a plea for help from "bagworth".
However, having had another look I have found a bu for Mary Bagworth born 1795. Bu in 1795 Tydd St Giles, so died an infant.  So the other Mary b 1804 in Tydd St Giles  is unlikely to be William's mother as she is given as born in Easton Northants on all the census I have found.
I don't know where the original info  that bagworth gave came from so cant add any more.
