Is it possible to find the 1841 William Howarth machine joiner and family of Calderbrook in any later census ?
I'm looking for a William Howarth joiner who had a son John Howarth married to Ann Sladen at St Chad's in 1839 ( both minors) . This John Howarth become a machine maker/joiner.
Ann Howarth then a widow of  married a John Whitworth.!
Thanks Sue

Hi Sue, It would be an amazing coincidence if the John Whitworth were the same man, father of Jane Hardman, who married my John Howarth.  John Whitworth is recorded on the marriage certificate as a butcher. regards Aber

Thanks for the 1851 information. They must be the wrong Howarths. My John Howarth was born c. 1820 .The info about William the joiner is from John's wedding certificate when he was living at Rydings which is between Syke and Wardle. In 1841 there are no Howarth's living at Rydings. I suspect William Howarth may be dead and don't know his wifes name-possibly Sarah as this is the name of John's first child.
Aber
All I know of John Whitworth is that in 1868 he is 52 a bachelor a labourer living at Mount Pleasant -poor housing built I believe to house the workers in Brights mills . Died before 1871 census ,when his widow Ann is living in Newhey with her youngest son Samuel and her granddaughter Mary Ann Howarth(my great grandma)

Thanks for the help finding out information about my John Howarth born 1828.

I believe his mother was Mary (nee Standring daughter of John and Ann ) and father John, weaver of Buersil and his siblings were Ann 1823, Robert 1824 and Emma 1835 all christened at St Chad's.

Is there any chance of taking it one step further back?  Was there a 1831 census?  Can the family be found with John and Mary and the children small Ann 7, and Robert 6 and John 3?

Can we find John Howarth father of John born about 1800.

Many thanks
Kind regards
Aber
