LizzieW - I remember seeing that at the time, but thankfully it doesn't seem to apply in my case. I much prefer to do updates at a time of my choosing.

I quite often get the pop-up telling me a new version is out & ignore it for a few days in case I come across too much negative feedback - keep getting the pop-ups but no auto-install.

Using XP in Firefox under Tools > Options > Advanced
Second option selected - "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them"

Assuming all bookmarks in your ver 16.0.1 have been noted, uninstall firefox then reinstall new 16.0.2.
This should verify that (if now working correctly) problem was with 16.0.1.

I've got 16.0.2 now, it updated itself this afternoon.  My newer bookmarks are all in RoboForm so, fortunately, they are not affected.
