Cloghran Cemetery
« on: Wednesday 31 October 12 19:21 GMT (UK) »
There is a tiny old cemetery in Cloghran, behind the Coachmans Inn.

I have a family grave there, but alas, there appears to be no headstone.  I'd like to find who is buried there, and when, if possible.  I made enquiries a couple of times, to see if there were records of the burials there, and was promised that someone would ring me back, but the promised phone call never comes.

Has anyone traced burials there, and is there another avenue I might try?

Is this the one ?

Cloghran church and graveyard   (c1890 OSI map)

It's a church of Ireland church, so the RCB Library is the place to check. The original records go back to the mid 1800s, but there are also some early 20thC transcripts of earlier records back to the 1700s with a few gaps.

Early parish death/burial records tend to be very basic - i.e. a name and date, sometimes an age.

Non Church of Ireland burials in the graveyard may not be included in the records.

Hi, although Cloghran cemetery is a protestant burial ground, my burials are Roman Catholic, in 1935 and 1946, so much later than the protestant records.  How come catholics were getting burials there so late, and are there burial records from the 1900s-1940s?

Give me a few names and rough dates and I will check records. The latest dates I have are for 1938 and they are RC

Hi, my great grandfather Edward Querney/Quearney was buried here in August 1935 (died 15th Aug).

I wondered if there was a plot number, a burial date, or anyone else in the grave. I don't know what information might be available. I would appreciate anything you might find. Many thanks.

I am hoping that your have records of Thomas Richardson and his wife, Elinor O'Brien, or any other Richardson burials in the Cloghran Cemetery. Thanks

If you've still got these records, could you please check for an Anne Jane Ure, died 1870, but maybe listed as the widow of John Phillips?
