Emily and James Finnegan son Harry Queensland
« on: Saturday 31 March 12 07:30 BST (UK) »
I am looking to find some information on Emily and James Finnegan and their son Harry. Emily and James emmigrated to Australia, timescale i'm not sure. Emily was born Emily Reid in 1909 in Belfast, she was one of 16 sibblings. She married James (jimmy) and they had two sons Harold and Thomas. I am not sure when they emmigrated to Australia. I know Harry married and had a family. I do have his wifes name and 2 of the childrens names but I can't post as it is likely the children are alive as they would be only in their 40s or so. Harry's wife could also still be alive. Harry lived in White Street Pratten Warwick Queensland. He was in the Australian Mounted Police before he died. The family were home in the late 1980s and we lost touch after Harry died in the early 1990s. I dont have any date of birth for him. Any information or whereabouts of the family would be great. Sorry my information is a bit vague but all other searches haven't thrown anything up. Please pm me for any information needed on the living children thanks

Mr T M FINNEGAN aged 14

I wonder if the second given name for THOMAS was McMASTER. (THOMAS McMASTER FINNIGAN)

There is an electoral roll record which shows him with others of the same surname including EMILY in Boolburra in 1963.

JAMES FINNIGAN is not with them, though he appears on some earlie E. Rolls

This death will be of interest I think

In 1958 REG C3781   James   Finnegan
   Father James
   Mother Margaret McMaster

That gives me a start. Emily died I belive in the 1980s. I remeber her coming home early 1980s and stayed with my grandparents. She lived in the outback . There were stories of her being bitten by snakes and being saved by the flying doctors after making it back to the house

This is an Electoral Roll entry for a woman of the name in 1980. 1980 is the extent of the E Roll available to me.

It may or may not be her.

EMILY FINNEGAN. 2 Crane Street, Longreach.( EDIT to correct spelling error) -Home Duties

There are no others of the same surname with her.
