« on: Monday 05 November 12 18:51 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help with information about:

Mary Ann Blower
born ca. 1845 - 1849
Shenstone, Staffs
Father possibly named George

Have a lot of information about her post-1864. It is the early years where I am stumped.

Yes - I've seen that census reference and suspect that is the Mary A. Blower I'm after. But that census doesn't lead me to anything. Haven't been able to find her on the 1851 census or in the Shenstone parish records.

Joseph BLOWER married Martha SEDGWICK in Jun Q 1850 (Lichfield 17 105), so the 1851 census looks like a recomposed family - there is a daughter Mary (aged 8 ) as well as Mary Ann (aged 7).

Possible births for these 2:

Births Dec 1842
BLOWER  Mary
Lichfield 17 63

Births Sep 1846
Sedgwick    Mary
Lichfield 17 83

What do you think?

There are some other possibilities in other registration districts, including the spelling BLOOR.

Hi

Do you have Mary Ann Blower marriage certificate, if so, who was her father and his occupation, also who were the witnesses

Thanks everyone for your ideas  :)

MargP:  Mary Ann Blower's 1st marriage was to William Stone in 1864. Her age is 18, her father is George Blower, coachman. The witness names are neither Blower nor Stone.

Rambler:  I will pursue the Sedgwick connection and see where it leads. It is possible she was born with a different surname. I have gone through the birth registrations searching a variety of Blower spellings and have ordered several likely certificates but they have never seemed quite right and the father is never a George.

Wozzle:  I have wondered if the Mary A. Blower in the Neville household is related to Mary Nixon, the housekeeper. There is a 3 year old Mary Ann Nixon born in Shenstone on the 1851 census living with her grandfather. But that is a stretch.

I have been working on the Blower and Sedgwick families and have sorted them out (somewhat). The one consistency has been that virtually all marriage, birth, and death registrations have been in Lichfield, Staffs.

Blower Family:
1837 - Joseph Blower m. Mary Edwards, St Michael, Lichfield (familysearch.org),
1837 - daughter Emma Blower born (4qua/17/44),
1840 - son William Blower born (3qua/17/70),
1841 - Joseph Bloore (sp), wife Mary, daughter Emma and son William living at Harehurst Hill, (H0107/1008/4-45/17),
1842 - daughter Mary Blower born (4qua/17/63),
1845 - daughter Sarah Blower born (2qua/17/70),
1846 - son James Blower born (4qua/17/66),
1847 - wife Mary Blower dies (4qua/17/45).

Sedgwick Family:
1839 - William Sedgwick m. Martha Stevenson (3qua/17/93),
1841 - William & Martha Sedgwick possibly in Liverpool (H0107/566/13),
1845 - daughter Emily Sedgwick born (1qua/17/74),
1845 - husband William Sedgwick dies (3qua/17/45),
1846 - daughter Mary Sedgwick (3qua/17/83) or Mary Anne Sedgwick (2qua/17/137 - Stafford, Staffs) born.

1850 - Joseph Blower m. Martha Sedgwick (2qua/17/105),
1851 - Joseph Blower, wife Martha, combined family of son William, daughters Mary, Sarah, Mary Ann and Emma (Emily) living at Harehurst, St. Michael (H0107/2014/462/26-27),
1851 - daughter Eliza Blower born (3qua/17/78),
1853 - son Thomas Stevenson Blower born (1qua/6B/290),
1859 - wife Martha Blower dies (4qua/6B/223).

1861 - Joseph Blower (widower), oldest daughter Emma (born in Shenstone), James, Eliza, and Thomas Stevenson Blower living at Wall, Staffs. (RG09/1974/73/11).

1871 - Joseph Blower, wife Lucy, and granddaughter Mary, 7 (b. 1864) living at Wall Lane, Lichfield (RG10/2915/95/10).

1881 - Joseph Blower (widower), and granddaughter Mary, 17 living at Church Cottages, Lichfield (RG11/2775/47/12).

Sorry to do such a long post but perhaps the information will be useful to someone else. It was interesting but a little disappointing since the Mary/Mary Anns are still confused and there is no George Blower, coachman.

Still stumped  :)

........and....just to really mess things up - there's this:

Mary Ann Sedwick (sp), christened 05/Apr/1846, Colwich, Stafford - only the mother - Ann Sedwick (sp), is shown.

Sarah Ann Sedgwick, christened 14/Jan/1845, St. Mary, Stafford - only the mother - Ann Sedgwick is shown.

1851 (HO107, piece 2014, folio 363, pages 44 and 45)
James Sedgwick, head, married, 58, Boot and Shoe Maker, Lichfield,
Mary Sedgwick, wife, married, 65, Haywood, Staffs,
Ann Sedgwick, daughter 25, unmarried, dressmaker, Lichfield,
Mary A. Sedgwick, granddaughter 5, Haywood, Staffs,
Sarah Sedgwick, granddaughter, 6, Stafford,
William Robins, nephew 13, errand boy Haywood, Staffs,
Edward Sedgwick, grandson 1, Lichfield,
Sarah Shufflebotham, inmate, widow, 64, Lichfield.

Anyone have any ideas on this?  :)
