Benjamin & Elizabeth Purslow - Eaton
« on: Monday 30 May 05 18:37 BST (UK) »
This is a plaintive cry from someone who has hit a brick wall!  I am trying to trace the father of my grandmother, Lily Purslow.  Her marriage certificate shows her father as John Purslow, but she lived with her grandparents Ben. & Eliz. Purslow from the age of at least 3.  I cannot find any trace of a son of theirs being called John apart from one who was only 5 years older than my Gran !!!

I was wondering whether anybody was researching the l851 Census and could possibly look up Benjamin and Elizabeth Purslow in Eaton, as that is where they were living at the time.  I know they had a daughter then (Sarah Elizabeth) who was born approx 1851.  If anyone is researching the l851 census, could I beg a big favour.  Can you have a look for me and see whether Benjamin and Elizabeth had another son at the time called John ???  It would solve a dilema for me !!!

Thanks !   Beth Jones

You wonderful man !!  Thank you so much for such a speedy reply.  The only problem is I am now confused more than ever !!!

Are we saying that Fanny Purslow was a sister of Benjamin ??  Also this does not help me at all with "John", alledgedly the father of Lily (my gran).

Could you possibly let me have a copy of the image ?  You could email it to me.

Thanks

Beth

IN 1851 Benjamin was living at Bank House which was then the Horseshoes Inn.

6 other people stopped there on the night of the census.
