Sounds like a different Thomas Seaton because the one in 38 Roger Street in 1881 was born Scotland, not Ireland.   Malcolm

There was a Robert Seaton at 38 Roger Street in 1881 but he was only one year old.  Malcolm

Aby

I forgot to mention yesterday that the Burial Records show that Thomas Seaton (age 47 at death in 1883) and Elizabeth Seaton, who was a widow when she died (aged 77) in 1917 were each buried in plot no. 309 in Section M. There was an age difference of only 4 years between them. They were, almost certainly, husband and wife. It could be useful if you follow this up through the nearest available census to Elizabeth's death.

I agree, you make interesting observations while exploring our past.  How paths cross and recross over time.  We think we live in a big world but it seems we travel in smaller circles than we first credit.
Thomas Seaton does look like a well respected member of his community indeed.  Need to explore his past further.   Aby

Blackhill Cemetery records are now available online via Family Search, as well as on Durham Records Online (pay per view).

I can't see a burial of a Sarah Ann Moor at Blackhill in January 1940

Have you looked for a burial at Leadgate itself?

Would Sarah have been living at 25 Second Street - born 6 September 1872.   Also at same adress a Robert Moor born 28 April 1901?
