I was christened with the surname of gotobed many moons ago . My family changed it by deed poll some years ago three generations of us have lived in west pinchbeck lincolnshire,but my great ,great gradfather James Gotobed is buried in Horningsea churchyard in cambridgeshire i have little history beyond his time is there any decendants still living in the village i wonder?

There are a couple of hundred births with that surname in Cambridge or with a mothers maiden name of Gotobed between 1916-2006

Is it the James Gotobed Buried June 1904, Chesterton Reg District, age 56?
Married Rachell BENDALL?
If so after Marriage he is easy to trace but before that appears to be the Step Son of William ROBINSON
Mother Mary Anne Jane born c 1821 Fen Ditton
1861 he is under James Gotebed c 1847 Fen Ditton

Its a bit complicated as there is a Ricket (Ricketts maybe) Step Son the Household also. (Reuben c 1839)

There was a Gotobed family who used to live in my village in Hampshire.  I know one of their relatives was on here many moons ago, so maybe they'll see your topic.

thanks for all the help the only thing i know is that james gotobeds headstone is  against the churchwall in horningsea grave yard and dates are not visable.
But as my fathers grandfather Alfred Gotobed  (married Ada Chappell),son of James had two sisters also brothers in his family names not known.

Its the right Family I found.
1901 pre Marriage Alfred born c 1879, Horningsea, Cambridgeshire is in Lincolnshire.
By 1911 Census he is Married to Ada. (Marriage Reg June 1901)
1891 his Parents are James/Rachel.
