Thanks for this. I have been meaning to get hold of this for some time.

I'd be grateful for these lookups:

Bill OR Byll in West Felton, Oswestry Hundred <- may also be in Ruyton-XI-Towns
Payne in Kinnerley, Os. Hundred
Any patrynomic names in Llwyntidmon, Llanymynech

Please could you check if there are any TITTENSOR or similar entries on the Burgess lists.

There were a number of Tittensor cabinet makers around the 1840s near St Marys and later in Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury having moved from Newcastle under Lyme.

Thanks for your help,

Paul

I have on loan for two seek the indexed publication on the Shropshire Lay Subsidy Roll 1524-7 if anyone wants a family checked. There are thousands of names on the roll, arranged by Hundred and Parish.

I also have a copy of the Shrewsbury Burgess Roll admissions from 1400-1800 if anyone wants copies of the entries.

John

Hi John,
My forebear, William Newell, was admitted as a hereditary Burgess in 1721 - is that correct?  Also, could you tell me the names of any other Newel/Newell/Newill/Newall etc. Burgesses; I'm told they were descendants of Richard Newell of Worthen, in the time of Henry VIII.  Thank you!
Best regards, Melissa

Richard Newall (40/- paid 12d subsidy) of Cleobury Borough (1525) is the only Richard listed in the 1524-7 Lay Subsidy.
