Edward Lockwood Smith
« on: Friday 30 November 12 09:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Edward Lockwood Smith married Mary Ann Poultney in 1831 in Notts.  I'm trying to find out what happened to them, I've searched but can find no trace.

There was also a marriage in Radford in 1836 of Mary Lockwood Smith to Thomas Ashton (or Aston) Overton, not sure if this Mary is Edward's sister or widow.

I've also posted on the Australia board with a more detailed query as one of the things that could have happened to Edward was transportation to Tasmania.

Hope someone can help

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob, do you know where they married. There is an Edward and Ann Smith married in Mansfield according to the census and later moved to Nottingham. The ages would seem correct, and if so were living with their daughters family in 1881. Their daughters married name being  Mary Ann Colclough.

Skewy.

Thanks Skewy & Carol, and that date and place in Radford sort of fits Carol.  And yet after the marriage they just seem to disappear, maybe he was transported as I suspect.

Not in Australia if they are with their daughter in 1881.

Hi Bob

Thought I would introduce myself. My husband is a direct descendant of Edward Smith and Jane Webb and through his son Samuel and daughter Amy who married Frederick Stecher/Stacher/Stacker. Like you I have been researching this family for many years, since about 1990 on my part.

I assume by now that you have found the marriage of Edward and Jane in 1897. I am interested in your research of Edward in Nottinghamshire. Very interesting.
