Cassie Powell/Cassie Jones b1890-ish Glanaman

William Powell and his wife Mary Ann, nee Jones, were married in the register office in Llandeilofawr in April 1899, he a bachelor b Merthyr Tydfil, she a spinster from Penrhiw near Tabernacl, Glynaman. In 1901, according to the census, they had an 11 year old daughter Cassie. William was still living with his parents in Merthyr at the time of Cassie's birth so it seems likely that Cassie was not William's daughter. Can anyone find any record of Cassie's birth and maybe the circumstances of it please?

Have you checked freebmd for a birth under Jones?  Cassie was possibly a corruption of Caroline

As Cassie was born around 1890 - have you checked the 1891 census for Mary Ann?  You haven't given any details of Mary Ann's birthplace or birthyear

and maybe the circumstances of it please?

You will only get info by buying a copy of her birth cert

Have you looked for her in 1911 to see if she is still shown as Cassie?

Can anyone find Mary Ann Jones and Cassie in 1891? Mary Ann's father was William Jones and he was a tailor (according to Mary Ann's marriage cert.).

You can rule out the 1890 birth in Llandilofawr Caroline Jones - with parents in 1891

Have you looked for her in 1911 to see if she is still shown as Cassie?

Is there a marriage for a Cassie Jones/Powell? - freebmd has one in 1916 in Carmarthen under Jones

There is also the possibility that Cassie was based on a middle name rather than a first christian name

There is this 1891 for Llandilofawr entry for consideration

James Grans 19 son b Bettws
Mary A Jones 20 servant b Bettws
Catherine Grans 1 dtr b Bettws - if you check the 1891 image - Catherine is surname Jones - not Grans.  Entry follows that of Mary so presume she is Mary's dtr
