Hi John, I'm not sure if there were two, but I recall William IV pub as being on Sutton Rd, not Stockwell Gate.  Sutton Rd is a continuation of Stockwell Gate, so do you think it is the same one?

Thanks Skewy,
Your correct, it should read Sutton Road, do you know if I can edit the title or do I just create a new thread ?

John

Hi
Only just seen this post ! My 3x great grandfather, Edward Bownes, was the publican at the William IV from 1871 to 1881. At the time there was a small 'farm' (9 acres) attached. A few years ago I looked at the original deeds in the Marston archives and took copies/notes of key dates etc. let me know if you're still interested in this pub and I'll see what I can dig out.
