1841 Census
Boston, Lincolnshire
HO107/613/8/Boston
Allen HUNN, 45, Baker
Susanna, 45
Harriett, 15
Frederick, 15, Printers Apprentice
Benjamin, 10
Susannah, 7

Its a bit strange as in 1851/1861 Allen is a Cordwainer/Shoemaker.
A mistake on the 1841 Census by enumerator?

By 1861 he is alone, 1851 with Susannah/Harriett.

Hi there,

The enumerator was right when he said that Allen was a shoemaker, as he did his shoemaking apprenticeship under Thomas Rilott from 1803, but later became a baker and a beer retailer, before going back to shoemaking.

I have quite a bit of information on the Hunn family, as I am attempting to connect all the Hunn families from the UK. How do you fit into the Hunn family? It would be great if we could exchange information.

Garstonite, you missed out three of Allen & Susannah's children:
- Allen (1816-1821)
- Iley (1817-1818)
- Mary Hunn (1829-1829)

Cheers,

Toban

Hi there:

Thanks for the information regarding the Hunn family. I'm related through Susannah, daughter of Joseph and Eliza. Susannah married a William Garner, who was my great grandmother's uncle. It's funny that you mentioned Allen and his attempt at baking, as the Garner family were flour merchants and bakers in the Liverpool from 1820s onward.

Cheers

Looking at original record for the marriage in St Botolph, the marriage of Allen Lunn & Susannah Waite was by banns, and a witness was an Ann Waite.

Hi
Are you still researching this ? The kents were my family too, my G.G.Great Grandmother Mary Kent was Eliza's sister and they both moved to Liverpool from Staffordshire. After Mary's early death her children were always around Eliza's and Joseph's family. Mary's eldest daughter Annie Jane married their son Joseph Benjamin ( her cousin)
It would be great to hear from you, I have quite a lot of information I can share
