Trystan - I am getting used to the new layout and have enlarged the print size to lessen the grey side stripes, but not being particularly au fait with the workings of computers (I can use one, as I can drive a car, but I have no idea how either of them work  ::) ) but isn't the BBC News website, or any other website, only the size you/your computer wants it to be.  For instance some people fill their screens with whatever site they are using, whereas I have two screens open at once, for instance the internet and my e-mail inbox, but it could be Legacy and Word.  So my BBC News website is probably smaller than yours and, as my OH has a very large screen for his PC, although he too has two screens open at once, both the screens he has open are larger than my laptop.

I think I like the more "modern" magazine- style appearance! However I'm not too keen on the grey side panels.

It would be interesting know if it is those of us of a 'certain age' who take longer to adjust to change.

I think it's probably those of us of a "certain age" who are finding the new colours difficult on the topic lists on the boards.

Are you talking about the chatroom? If so, it is currently not working, but check back later to see if it is.

but isn't the BBC News website, or any other website, only the size you/your computer wants it to be.

No, it's a fixed width, the same width as this site. The 'grey bits' are 'white bits' on their site.
