Hello again Ian,

Since my last post, I have visited the Ewart Library to see if the have the photograph of English Street.
They don't have a hard copy. However, they have a Digital one, which I have ordered. Not sure of the year the photograph was taken - but at a guess could be around 1890/1910.

Thanks again,

MonicaL,

I have now managed to get 3 photographs of my G Grandfather's plumbing business at 35/37 English Street.
Now I have the task of putting dates to them.

Thank you once again.

That is great news, cupcake  :)

Perseverance, eh! Doesn't always work, but great when it does ;)

Hi, theres a very good resource of old Dumfries photos on the "Old Dumfries" page on facebook and I think I saw old pics of English street there when I was hunting for old Queen street photos.
Good luck.

2 Harriet,

Yes, but if I remember, there weren't any of my G Grandfather's plumbing business.

However, I did manage to order a digital copy from the library, of English Street, showing his business. Just have to get year for this one.

Thanks,

Hello Cupcake

We haven't spoken for a few years.  I'm Melissa , daughter of Alexander , son of Reginald Tupper Carnegie (d 07.12.1972) and Margaret Mein Moffat (d 07.12.1969), sister of George Campbell Moffat (d 26.10.1986, never married and no children), children of William and Christine Moffat, and William was the son of my great great grandather Robert Johnstone Moffat, the plumber at 35 English Street, Dumfries ... did you receive the photographs of his business premises/their flat and if so would you mind emailing me any that you have as I'd love to see them.

How are you getting on with your family tree?  How far back have you gone now?

By the way, my dad has a brother and he lives in Chessington.  He has one daughter , although you're only interested in the Moffats, I know ;-)

Kind regards
Melissa
