Unknown uniform
« on: Tuesday 01 January 13 20:10 GMT (UK) »
Hello - does anyone have any ideas what uniform this might be please?  It's George Nicholls (1874-1931), who would have been 40 when the Great War broke out, and lived in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.  We think the picture was taken about 1918.
Any clues / ideas gratefully received.
Many thanks

Many thanks Ady - that's an interesting possibility.  I see there are a couple of George Nichollses listed on Ancestry's medal roll indexes as having served in the ASC, so could fit your theory.

Regards
Richard.
