James VALENTINE and Agnes WYLLIE
« on: Sunday 06 January 13 10:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to find out information on the following people:

James Valentine B. c. 1170 in Fordoun (possible father is James Valentine)
He married Agnes Wyllie on 26 Jan 1828 West Cairnby (apparently this was a 2nd marriage yet to find 1st marriage)

They had the following children:
Betty B. 3 May 1828, Fordoun
Elisabeth B. 27 Mar 1830 Marykirk
John B. 21 Sep 1833 Marykirk
William Hay B. 2 Feb 1836 Marykirk
Helen B. 28 Jul 1838 Marykirk

Any information on any of these people would be wonderful. William Hay is a direct ancestor so if anyone knows how he got to NZ that would be great. Agnes WYLLIE her parents would be good too.

Thank you.

Hi ,

Looks like James was born c1771 going by the 1841 Census.
By 1851 Agnes is widowed , her birthplace is showing as Dublin Ireland.(FreeCEN transcription).
There also appears to be another son Joseph.

Scotlandspeople has an Agnes Valentine(other surname Wyllie) death 1881 Fordoun Kincardine , born c1802.
If that is your Agnes it should give her parents names , if known to the informant.

Hi All
Sadly I have no credits on Scotlands People to check that out but thank you for that.
Looks like Joesph is theirs so I will add him to the list.
Be great to find out what ship William Hay came to NZ on.

I have a third Great Grandfather James Valentine born 1801, Fordoun. Married Jean Crow and had kids Charles, Ann, Alexander, David and Jean. Parents were James Valentine b. 1770 and Margaret Tivendale. Sounds similar but different to your James Valentine.

There are several public trees on Ancestry with William Hay Valentine born 1836 Kincardineshire and with death 1919 in Dunedin NZ. Parents James Valentine and Agnes Wyllie.
