Drury's in Shropshire early 1800's
« on: Wednesday 09 January 13 05:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi! I am looking for info on Hannah Drury who was born in St. Martin's Shropshire, abt 1835. Here's everything else I know...

1841 census listed as living at "Yellow House" in St. Martin's (is that a place or does it literally mean a yellow house?)
1851 census she was a servant at res. of John Hudson on Derby Rd. North
1852 married James Allen Binns in Liverpool
All later censuses show them living in West Derby, Kirkdale
They had 9 children: James Allen, Joseph Arnold, Frederick William, Mary Jane, John, Arthur, George Edward, Walter Henry, and Edward.
She died in 1881

I've come to a dead end in my research and I would be so grateful if there is anyone who can help me out here!

Hi

Welcome to Rootschat.

Sorry,but I cannot help with regards as to whether it was simply a house painted yellow.... or if Yellow House is a place.... ::)

BUT...

1841 Census shows your Hannah with John and Mary DRURY who I assume are her parent, and possible siblings of Edward, Richard, Rebecca, Eliza and Sarah.

So....

Familysearch.org has

Baptism Record
St Martins Shropshire

Hannah DRURY
Baptised 5th Feb 1832
Father = John DRURY
Mother = Mary DRURY

Does it list her father on her Marriage Certificate??

Cheers

The first child that I can find being baptised to John and Mary DRURY is from Familysearch.org..

Baptism Record
St Martins Shropshire
Samuel DRURY
Baptised 25th Sept 1825
Father = John DRURY
Mother = Mary DRURY

It could well be that this is the marriage of John and Mary as shown on Familysearch.org

Marriage Record
Welshampton Shropshire

John DRURY
Mary CHASE
29th March 1825

Thank you SO much!!! Awesome that is definitely her. I found several Hannah Drury's but couldn't figure out which one was mine. I must not have read the marriage cert all the way thru or that would have answered my question lol. Thank you again for taking the time to help me :)

No worries... happy to have been able to help you out.  If you need anything else for this family... baptism dates for their children especially, go to the site I used.  It is free..

John Drury and Mary Chase appear in my tree, they are ancestors on my Grandmother Hannah Drurys side.  My Grandmothers father James was born in St Martin, and she was born in Ellesmere.
