Am now trying to put the pieces together on the Irish end, Sandra  :)

Only problem I have with this Matthew is at present the marriages I can find to a Sarah in Ireland list his father as either a William (1846 marriage) or a Hugh (1850 marriage). Since Matthew named his eldest son William, I'm swaying toward the former. However, that would make his father William too old to be the William in my tree (my father's grandfather).

Will keep looking...

John Andersons middle name was "Taylor" - that might have to fit into the equation somewhere ?

My Great grand father was William Anderson born 1878, his father was David Anderson born 1843, his father was Matthew

David    ANDERSON    .    Comber    husband of Mary Jane Beattie ; father of Matthew b. 11 Apr 1868 & William Beattie Anderson b. 18 Jul 1870 & Robert Henry b. 6 Aug 1873

this is the family, William beattie born 1870 died aged 6, so it appears another son was called william born 1878.

Hi bt. My mother was a member of your Anderson family and I have an extensive tree. Your right about two William Andersons. In fact there were many :). The two you mention were brothers.
