Sarah Burgham born Shawbury, Shropshire circa 1792

Hello to all,

I am trying to discover the whereabouts of my  GGG Grandmothers ancestors.   She was born Sarah Burgham circa 1792 in Shawbury .    She later married a Richard Barker, also born in Shropshire Jul 1795 but in the area of Upton Magna.   Their marriage took place in Lancashire in Jan 1821.   Sarah eventually died in 1868 in Oldham, Lancashire.

Have no other details for Sarah at all, any help would be appreciated

Hi Katlady,

There's a Sarah Burgun baptised at Shawbury on 3rd April 1791, parents Henry Burgun and Elizabeth.

Could this be her ?

... if it is 'your' Sarah, Henry and Elizabeth Burgun also had a son Thomas, baptised at Shawbury on 10th May 1789.

Its certainly a possibility, will try and find out if I can access her marriage record to discover fathers details to narrow it down.

Marriage details~note: fathers names not recorded on marriage records before start of Registration in 1837.

I see that Henry and Elizabeth's marriage record has his surname as Burgum, so it looking more and more likely that this is the correct family.

Thanks for that information, i did not know that fathers details were not recorded before 1837, that certainly is going to make it harder to pin down, but will keep looking
