Military units from Rutland 1770's-1780's
« on: Saturday 19 January 13 22:54 GMT (UK) »
2 questions

1. Was there a specific unit(s) that a young man from Rutland would typically join or be conscripted into from 1775 to 1790? Probably infantry.
2. To access the records for the 16th and 60th Regiment of Foot, specifically troops serving under Col. Campbell in Florida during this time period, one would have to know the right ledger and go to Kew? Problematic as I live in Idaho, USA.
Thanks for any info,
Dan

My 5th GGF, John Merriman was born in the Rutland area in 1760 and ended up in Louisiana in the 1790's. I am trying to determine how he got from Rutland to Louisiana. Thanks for your info.
