PS:  The C Penfold may have been Charles Penfold identified by Debra as coming out on the same ship as John, Elizabeth and their and his family in 1838,  maybe brothers or cousins.

There is a family tree that suggests John Penfold born 27th Jan 1797 at Goudhurst, Kent died at Reeves Plains in South Australia 3rd May 1884, and Elizabeth Penfold was born Elizabeth Thompson 12th Sept 1794 at Burwash, Sussex and she somehow went back to England and died in Goudhurst, Kent on 20th Sept 1883.

An 1838 shipping record has John Penfold's parents as Edw! a farmer of Goudhurst Kent and mother Mary Friend.
