John Waterall of Loscoe
« on: Wednesday 23 January 13 16:28 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone,

I am hoping to find the parents of John Waterall, he was born in Loscoe c.1784.  I'm not sure whether he would have been baptised in Heanor or Codnor, so I'm hoping that somebody may have the parish records from around this time.  He was living with his sister Dorothy in 1861, she would have been born around 1792, if this helps.

Many Thanks,
Sue

Hi Sue,
Can't help you with the baptism, but I think the following is your ancestor:-
John WATERALL buried at St James, Codnor and Loscoe, Derbyshire, March 25th, 1862, aged 78.

Thank-you Victor,

I have since discovered that Codnor Church of St. James opened in 1844, at this time Loscoe became part of the ecclesiastical parish of Loscoe & Codnor, prior to this I believe it was part of Heanor Parish, so Loscoe baptisms (marriages and deaths) would have taken place at St Lawrence's Church, Heanor.

So John Waterall was buried in Codnor, but presumably baptised in Heanor!

Thanks again,
Sue
