I've just come into possession of the original Police Charge Book for Goodiwindi Watch-House 11/2/1898 to 6/11/1902.
If you think your ancestor may have "made it" into the book, I can search it for you. Its not indexed so an approximate date would assist. I intend to index it myself when I can get around to it.
Not a great deal of information contained in it, basically name, age, calling, religion, charge, Police and result. But being the original I can take a photo of any relevant entry which would be addition to your research. Quickly glancing through it, I've already seen one charge of Murder.
