Thanks for that.
Robert Elliott was my great grandfather known as Grancha.
Her uncle David was known to us as Uncle Dai. He paid to have his family tree done in the late 1950s and early 1960s then had it destroyed. My initial interest in genealogy was to find what caused him to destroy it. I haven't found it. So mystery is not solved.

Do you know why he had it destroyed?...
Could it have been Elsie's birth date?...
Was uncle David still living in the USA in the 1950s and 60s.
Are you in the USA too?
Oh, So many questions...
I hope you find your answers. If its not too painful, I hope you can share them.
Let me know if I can help.
Regards,
Fred

I live in Wales.
Could well be that Elsie was the issue. I don't know. All I knew before was that she was a niece Mary, widow of Samuel, in the 1901 census. They were living in New Tredegar, about 5 miles from where I live.
Uncle Dai died in Illinois in 1970. He only came back to Wales on holidays. He usually stayed with Robert.
I have now found that David James had been married previously married. Head one daughter called Annie Maud who married Henry Finch. They went to America in 1921. I remember her letters to my grandmother. My mother always referred to her as Auntie Maud.

I will go to visit my mother's cousins. One lived with Robert until he died and continued to live in the house afterwards. I'll see if I can find anything more about Elsie.

Hello again.
I've just found an Annie M James who married a Henry F Finch at Merthyr Tydfil in 1920... Is this one of David's children from his first wife?
It would be interesting to see this young lady's birth certificate.
Good luck, please keep me informed.

Fred
