Hi Lin

I'm just quoting this from your Lanarkshire thread - I found more info:

A bit more to help your Irish search  ;D

Michael's birth cert has them married same date as Charles's but in Clandavadagh - Clandavaddog

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~donegal/clondavadogproj.htm

There is a Townland called Rath Gory in Clandavaddog
- see map:

Also, I think that they were born nearer 1854 and 1857.

No need to keep bumping up your topic by asking for the same information.

The Irish civil registration index is online (free) so you can have a look for the marriage yourself (bride and groom index separately so you need to cross-reference any possiblities to see if index details match) to get the details needed to order the certificate.

It's not uncommon for the marriage date and/or place on Scottish certificates to be slightly off so don't rule out the 1877 marriage you found. Details for bride and groom that need to match are years/quarter if any, registration district, volume and page numbers.

Their first son was born 25 April 1876 in Bothwell and all subsequent children b. Scotland as well. They do seem to be reasonably consistent with date (1st August 1875) and place of marriage on the children's birth certs - Parish - Clandavadagh - Clandavaddog  and/or Townland - Rathgory/Rath Gory.

Hi lindaswe, I too am looking for information about James Edward Sweeney, b.1853, co. Donegal, Ireland, and Sarah Ann Sweeney nee McGonigal. I am their descendant from Adelaide, South Australia if you want to talk and exchange information. I am not too sure yet how this website works!
