I see records of him living in Chicago and Oak Lawn, Illinois in the 1990's and possibly earlier.  There are some newspapers for Illinois and Indiana that would cover these areas on obitsarchive. com and newslibrary.com, but I don't see an obituary for him there.  The Oak Lawn public library has an obituary index here - http://www.oaklawnlibrary.org/indexsearch/lhobits.shtml - but I don't see him in there either.

Many thanks Sandra and Shellyesq for your help.  This person is my father's 1st cousin.  I have already checked Ancestry.  Found on the first two trees, this information has been taken from my tree (which I have since closed off) and told them so.  The third person I believe is the daughter of Peter Crowley.  I have posted numerous messages to her but she has not been online for some time.  I live in Ireland so would be unable to look for the obituary.  I wrote to Peter's brother in Chicago (took a chance with details on their late mother's death notice.)  It was his brother alright but got an unfavourable responce.  Great to know he served in the US Army and where he is buried.

So you are the grandson of Michael and Margaret (Bowler) Crowley.  Michael is my grandfather's brother who hailed from Co. Clare, Ireland.

I have done extensive research in the Crowley family back to our g,g,g, grandfather James Crowley.  Are you in contact with your Crowley cousins in Chicago?
