Information on E Hancock, Photographers. Sunderland

Dear All,

Does anyone have any information the can tell me on E. HANCOCK & Co. Photographers. Sunderland.

I am interested in the years he was working in Sunderland and his location please.

Hancock & Co. photographers were at 312 High Street in the 1914 Directory. They were not in the 1902 directory.

Hancock & Co. are at the same address in the 1921 Phone Book

I only have access to the 1902 and 1914 directories, so I don't know when they first appeared in Sunderland.

Sorry to resurrect this old post, but I came across it and thought my attachment might be of interest for anyone looking at information for this company (note they also seemed to have a Hartlepool address).

We have recently come across some old photo postcards from them (see attachment). Unfortunately we don't have any additional information about them.

Their first advert appears in the Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette - Friday 09 September 1910, address Middle Holmeside, Sunderland.

In the Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette - Tuesday 25 October 1910 they are at 312 High Street West.

In March 1933, 312 High Street West was occupied by the "Empire Hairdressing Salon", so Hancock's had gone by then. The last mention of them is in the Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette - Friday 20 May 1932.
