Elizabeth WHALE
« on: Wednesday 13 February 13 03:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi,  I am looking for information about Elizabeth Whale who married John Henwood 3-9-1808 at St Austell Cornwall.
I was hoping to find her mother's and father's names and if possible her date of birth and death.
        Any news would be great.

            Regards   Dexter.

OK I think that I can help here.

I looked at the marriage and the witnesses were the Martyn brothers who I have recently been helping another researcher with.

The Martyns through the mothers side of the family were related to the Northy family of Altarnun. Joan Northy married Thomas Whale in Altarnun and Elizabeth Whale 1783 was one of their children. Several of the Northy girls married in the St Austell area.

I am sure that it is the 1788 one as Joan was a Northy and that is the connection to St Austell and the Martyn brothers.

The only marriages I can see that fit, 1740-1780, are:

9th December 1752 at Altarnun
Thomas Whale to Joan Hicks

26th May 1752 at Lewannick
Thomas Whale to Joan Comer

You have to go a little further than 1780

01-Apr 1783 Altarnun
Thomas Whale married Joan Northey.  Witnesses nevill Northey and Charles Burnard.

Hi,       Thank you both for all the information you sent me. I think that Thomas and Joan are the right parents. I will now be able to add them to my tree.

               Regards  Dexter.
