hi.

i have an Arrowsmith in my tree from westleigh who married one of my great grand aunts at st mary the virgin leigh

Marriage: 25 Feb 1754 St Mary the Virgin, Leigh, Lancashire, England
Henry Arrowsmith - this parish
Jennet Coward - this parish
    Married by Licence
    Source: LDS Film 559188

ive done some reasearch on them but mainly on the coward side - i know that there are NO GRAVES at st Marys leigh belive me ive aked them and they SOLD the land to the council and build a market in the 1960s, and dug the graves up and put them all together with a monumnet in leigh cemetry  so there is not much to see there are a few graves inside the church and one or two in the path if your lucky - i havent been to the church to take pictures because of that reason -

the couple had several children, james alice, Henry ect.

if you would like to share information let me know and ill be happy to help

uuummmm, it is a shame that a transcription of the full details of the memorial stones and plaques does not appear anywhere online for Leigh and surrounding cemeteries as the information regarding the Arrowsmith family would certainly lay truth to some missing records. As for Henry etc I will have a look at that....

the inscriptions for some of the churches - they are in a book held at Bolton library for the Bolton area - there may be something at Wigan library for leigh - but as they bullzosed some of it in the 1960s i think they might not have taken the inscriptions back then but worth inquiring the best place is wigan history shop they are very good and will point you in the right direction -
