Wargrave - bapt. lookup Ann Beacon/Bacon about 1730ish
« on: Saturday 23 February 13 08:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Does anyone have the Wargrave PRs they could do a look up for me please?

Ann Beacon married Francis Perry in Ewelme in Jan. 1756 and she is recorded as from Wargrave.

I know she died in Dec 1768 and is buried  in Appleford, Berks and from a previous request there are no Beacon/Bacon baptisms in Ewelme where she married.

Any help most appreciated.

Hi Alan,

Sorry - I couldn't find a baptism for Ann Bacon or Beacon in Wargrave. There are plenty of Bacons in the indexes but none in the 1700s.

Are you sure Ann was a spinster when she married Francis? Perhaps she'd already been married?

Otherwise, she may have been living in Wargrave when she married but was not necessarily born there.

Do the names of Francis & Ann's children give any clues?

Jill
HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

Hi Jill,

Thanks for checking out Wargrave for me. That at least rules out this parish along with Ewelme and Appleford.
I have nothing to indicate if Ann was a widow or not when she married Francis Perry.

"she may have been living in Wargrave when she married but was not necessarily born there.
I think this is very true,
and,
their children's baptisms don't give up any clues either.

I think I may have just worked out the correct wife.    In checking Sutton Courtenay transcripts
by chance  I found a Francis Perry marrying Elizabeth Farmor 20-11-1756 both from Appleford.
This date ties very nicely with other info I have
I will have to go back  give some more  thought as it opens another line to verify.

Many thanks for your help
