Abraham Lawrence Jamaica
« on: Wednesday 06 March 13 18:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

Can anyone tell me where I can try and fond out details about a man born in Jamaica

Abraham Lawrence was born around 1847/49, he later came to Liverpool.

Any advice would be great, hoping I can find something out about his birth/parents.

Cheers

Ant

Did he marry in England? if so, marriage certificate should (hopefully) list name and occupation of father.
Do you know when he arrived in U.K.? if he was a child then other family members might have also travelled with him.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The marriage was at St Matthew, Liverpool.

I see he called his son Dwaney so that suggests consistency with naming convention... named after Abraham's father

Thanks Shaun J

I noticed Abraham had named one of his daughters Alice, and his only son Dwaney (1881 Census). Wondered if it was significant.
