« on: Sunday 10 March 13 05:21 GMT (UK) »
RICHARD TWISS b.1610 in Parish Fitz.Shropshire. married twice. 1.SARA UNKNOWN circa 1632 died soon after 2 JANE UNKNOWN  circa 1642. Would anyone know their surnames.. a long shot of course.  Richard and Jane moved to Castleisland Kerry Ireland after 1650. He was a Land Agent for Lord Chirbury, He died 1682 in Kerry.  Their daughter MARIE TWISS b.1645 was my 6th great grandmother. Would the marriage take place in Girl's Parish? Difficult without surname of brides.  Thanks for any advice   Lorc. Australia

From http://www.melocki.org.uk/salop/Fitz.html it shows Sarah w of Richard Twisse bur 27 Jan 1640/1

Can't see any marriages in Fitz for Richard though so it is most likely that they did take place in the brides parish

Thank you Garsonite and Shirl.  I somehow missed the burial of Sara, wife of Richard Twiss. Not knowing surnames of wives, would they be married in close parishes? and if so could you advise the closest parishes for me to look into. There is some information in Burke that states he married a FRANCES BRODERICK, near rel of Earl Powis. So far I have proved this to be something made up by overambitious relatives.(He was my 7th gt gfr). and had only two proven wives. His status was son of Robert Twiss and Alice Speake, reasonable comfortable farmers, but his inheritance was only fourteen pounds. A goodly sum in 17th century, but not enough to marry above his station. His dtr MARIE married my 6th GT GFR  GEORGE RADLEY esq, KNOCKRAUR, CORK, Ireland about  1670/75.Burkes accepted info without checking. See www.radleysofcork.bigpondhosting.com

Genuki is always good for seeing what parishes are close by http://www.genuki.org.uk/cgi-bin/nearby?CCC=SAL,GRIDREF=SJ449178,DISTANCE=5,PN=Fitz

Some of those parishes look like they are on Mel Lockie's site http://www.melocki.org.uk/MelockiSalop.html

Good luck
