Immigration records and doctors of SA- 1960's-1970's
« on: Sunday 10 March 13 22:31 GMT (UK) »
Is there a way to find records of immigration of people from England coming to Australia, I think it would've been South Australia.
Dr. Audrey Vera FOX and her son, came to South Australia in 1960's. This is a rough estimate because the earliest records we have of her being in SA are from the 60's. According to the stories she had  been divorced from her husband, Graham FOX, after they had 2 children. Their daughter stayed in England because she was disabled and in a wheelchair. We think she may still be alive.
Also can I see records of doctors who were working in SA around this time?
Audrey married K D FOULIS in 1970's. K is my great-grandfather, whose wife, Vera Jean FOULIS had died the previous year.
Hope someone can help.

Hi Blamcca,

I can see the burials of Audrey and Kyffin, but suggest that the other two names you mention may still be living people, so it would be best if you modified your post to remove their names. (RC policy).

I take it you know about Audrey and Kyffin's deaths.

There is a SUBMITTED private tree at Ancestry, with the index listing a headstone, in Adelaide, SA for Audrey’s son, who is noted as born 1955.   There does not seem to be any supporting documentation.

I can see Ryerson has  Audrey Vera FOULIS at age 78, 5 Jan 2005.

Cheers,  JM

That tree on Ancestry is probably mine. We found copies of the birth certificates of Audrey's children when we cleaned out her house after she died. Andrew died in the 1970's when he was involved in a car crash. We also know her first husband has passed away.
Thanks majm I'll try those links.

For records of doctors working in South Aust. in 1960s, you could try either
Medical Board of South Australia
South Australian Government Gazette

The Med Board's records may even be at their State Archives by now, for that period.
If you could get someone to look them up for you,

Not sure where you'd get to read the SAGG for then, but possibly their State Library?
If you could get someone to look them up for you,

The Medical Board may or may not be receptive to a request for the information - these Boards are notoriously difficult to deal with, in most Aust. states!   ::)  ::)  ::)

Hi

Audrey is still on the UK Medical Register for 1959 (the latest one Ancestry has).

You could try the South Australian Electoral Roll to see when she was first on it, that should give you a window of arrival, unfortunately they are not online.

Hi

Audrey Vera Hooper on this site http://www.alumni.bristol.ac.uk/publications/events/reunion/2012/Lost%20graduates%20from%20pre%201962.pdf

There may not  be a record of her arrival if she came by plane.
