Emma Caroline Margaret DARTNALL was buried at Havelock North Cemetery (Hawke's Bay District) with her husband Arthur DARTNALL.    There is a headstone photo at the following link (Hastings District Council website).

Hello again

Just looking again at the photo of the YOUNG headstone (Temuka  Timaru Cemetery) > link given in earlier post.

It records also the death of "Ann STARK" - aged just 9 years, on 26 May 1879.   :'(

      **   CORRECTION   **

Just noticed I'd made an error with cemetery name.

It should have read "Timaru" Cemetery (not Temuka.)

Hi,

The birthdates of the Young children taken from School Records:

Oliver born 30 August 1872
Lillie born 10 September 1875
Ethel born 19 September 1877 *

*  On another school admission birth year has been recorded as 19 August 1876.

The exact dates will need verifying ....sometimes it was an older sibling who gave the details and didn't always get the details right.

Cheers
KHP

If you go to the following site, you'll find burial info (plus photo of headstone) for the YOUNG family.   [Jacob / children, Oliver Jacob / Lilly / ]

Emma YOUNG (formerly PUDNEY / LINDSAY / STARK / JUNG )   :

Strangely, I haven't been able to find Emma listed on either the Timaru Cemeteries database, or the online Death Index (NZ BDM).

She is remembered though on the magnificent headstone at Timaru (see photos).

ILMO Emma, the wife of Jacob YOUNG - died 30 June 1880, aged 39 years.

--------------------------

And the "Timaru Herald" - 1 July 1880 (page2) and 15 July 1880, has her death notices :
[Search on "J. YOUNG" ]

YOUNG - at Church Street, Timaru on 30 June, the wife of Mr J. YOUNG, aged 39 years.

Emma and Jacob YOUNG

Three further children were born to Emma and Jacob - this time their births are indexed as YOUNG (rather than JUNG).

1877 - Ethel May YOUNG

1878 - Ernest Edward YOUNG

1880 - Frederick William YOUNG

-------------------------------

Timaru Burials :

YOUNG - Ernest E. - buried 25 February 1879 - aged 4 months

YOUNG - Frederick - buried 25 August 1880 - aged 2 months
(9 weeks shown on death index)

---------------------

Frederick William YOUNG was born on 22 June 1880 - his mother Emma, died 8 days later.  :'(
