Incidentally, John P. STARK was still listed as living in NZ in 1896 (in the South Island of NZ).

1896 - Canterbury - Timaru

STARK - John Powing - Timaru - Coachbuilder   (Residential voting qualification)

A check of the "Daily Southern Cross" - 8 March 1867, reveals though that the notice doesn't actually show "STARK - PUDNEY" ... it just begins with the words ... "On March 4, at ... "

I didn't see how it was worded on Papers Past ..... it came from one of my resources.

I don't see Sarah's burial on the North Shore cemeteries database,I think the most likely place she would have been buried is Mt Victoria Cemetery

unfortunately the link to the index by David Verran didn't work.

(extract) ...

... just noting in the marriage notice for Emma Caroline LINDSAY, that her place of residence (1874) is "Tararu".

Tararu (in the Thames-Coromandel District ? ) was also the place of marriage of an "Emma STARK to Jacob JUNG  - 1871".    [I suspected earlier that this Emma was HP STARK's widow ? ]
