Looking for marriages of Wood issue born Lydd
« on: Wednesday 13 March 13 18:31 GMT (UK) »
In 2004 David Hills - who I understand is now deceased - sent me the most detailed and informative information on the baptisms of nine of the children of John and Ann Wood.  I am now trying to find the marriages of eight of them.

Is there a site I can access to look or do I need to request help from SKS.

All baptised Lydd Parish Church All Saints on the following dates:

Richard     7 September 1770
John       11 October     1771
Hannah   13 June          1773
Edward   30 August      1774
Jenny     17 June          1776
Jasper     4 February     1779
Hester     5 December   1781
James    30 April           1784

Many thanks bearkat for the link.

I have checked the index and found four marriages (Hannah, John, Edward and James),which may fit, however, without the names of the parents it is impossible to know.  Also as far as the male members of the family are concerned it may be that they did not marry in Lydd but in the bride's parish.

I also checked familysearch for Jasper but the only one married in Wingham- some 30+ miles from Lydd I believe.  Jenny I have not found at all.  Marriages for a Richard or a Hester were not in Lydd parish.

Are there any means of checking the actual registers (or transcriptions) for the names of the parents?

Many thanks for your help.

Regards

Ceeoh.

At this time there is unlikely to be any mention of the parents in the parish register.  :(

You may be lucky and find that a family member was a witness to the marriage.

A father may be mentioned if any of them married by licence.

Wills and MIs may help in sorting out families.

Many thanks Bearkat,
I can check the print out of the Lydd Parish Church MIs, but it would look as if I would need to send for certificates to check anything else.  I do have a marriage certificate 1771 for my g-g-g-grandparents, (not the Wood family),  and that gives the names of the witnesses.  A bit too expensive to send for Wills and/or certificates on the offchance that it may be a family member.

Many thanks for your help
