A Walter Townsend born 1880 passed away Dec 1942 Manchester Lancashire. 8d 445

Probate - Walter William Townsend otherwise Walter of 20 Omer Avenue Manchester 13 died 3 November 1942 - at 123 Crescent Road Manchester 8 - administration with will - Manchester 9 February to Edna - married woman - effects £52 8s 9d

So could Edna be his sister  ??? If this is Walter - the other one must be William  ???  Do you think  ???

Would be amazing if Run Kitty could come along and find an obit for William (Walker/Walter) Townsend.  ;)  It might help us out a little.  ;)

Nice one Sandra - thanks for the updates!
The Townsend family you mention in Macclesfield are mine  ;)
Walter William Townsend born in 1882 was William Townsend's cousin but he was listed in the 1891 census as if he was a son of Frederick and Jane Mills but they took him in and he lived with them which is where I got the Frederick from as William's "father figure". This was also confirmed in the old relatives letter I read some years ago that they took William in but no mention of what happened to his mother Hannah as she is not listed with them in 1891 but she is listed with William and as his mother on the 1881 census in Macclesfield when William was aged 1.
So frustrating.....just looking for something that gets us somewhere!

Oh fab - do you think we've got your William  ??? Surely if we have proved Walter stayed in the UK - William may have taken his name as a middle name  ???  Would love that obit. Will send RK a message, see if she can help  ???

Edna Townsend marries John Thomas England - Chorlton - 8C 300 - Registered December 1907
They appear on 191 Census together.

No Sandra -

The Walter William Townsend and William Townsend who I'm looking for are not the same person.
They were cousins of each other
Both were born in 1880 in Macclesfield but Walter William Townsend was born Q2 1880 where as William Townsend was born Q1 1880

Keep searching! Ha ha! Thanks Phil

Yeah he could have taken Walter as his middle name I guess, good shout :-)

Which maybe also establishes the Walker query that its actually Walter the middle name and not Walker.......hmmmmmmm
