Can anyone go back before Henry Lowe (1823-1911) or Mary Ann Thompson (1837-1914). I seem to have it a dead-end there.
I do know that the son, Thomas A Lowe (1873-1933), married Agnes C Wood
Ben

Is this the birth reg for Thomas (Arthur) Lowe that you mention  :-\

Welcome to Rootschat, Ben.

This might help:

Marriage St Paul York 14 March 1857

Henry Lowe Draper Bachelor Residence Newcastle Upon Tyne Father James Lowe Farmer
Mary Ann Elliott Spinster Residence Oxford Street Father Joseph Elliott Engine Driver

One witness is an Isabella Elliott.

Earlier in the thread Claire found a baptism in Shropshire for Henry with parents James and Mary - father's occupation on parish record is farmer.

Possible marriage for Henry's parents 16 June 1808 Bitterley,Shropshire

James Lowe of the parish of Burford bachelor and Mary Adney of this parish spinster.

There is a burial for a James Lowe in Burford 9 April 1838 aged 59 Residence given as Greenway Head and one for a Mary Ann Lowe 24 May 1843 aged 63 (also Greenway Head).

Mary would appear to be in Burford at Greenway Head with sons Thomas and James in 1841  census.

Also note that James appears in the death duty registers and so may have left a will.(Hereford) as did so James who died in 1858.

William

Added Re Mary Ann Elliot - parents marriage Longbenton 2 Jan 1832 Joseph Elliott and Hannah Watkin. Joseph Elliott's occupation in 1851 census in York is engine driver.
