Peter Davies - shoemaker, Holywell, 1810-82.
« on: Wednesday 20 March 13 21:49 GMT (UK) »
I have a 14 Jan 1810 baptism at St. James Parish Church, Holywell for Peter Davies, son of John and Sarah? but I cannot find the family in the 1841 Census for Wales (aged 31). My 1851, he is living with his wife Ann? and 6 children at Bagillt Street, Holywell, Flintshire. Again, I cannot find him or the family for the 1861. The children are Edward (b.1837, Amelia, b. 1839, Sarah Elizabeth, b. 1842, John b 1845, Peter, b. 1847, and Anne, b. 1849)

I would appreciate any help with the 1841 an the 1861.

Many thanks

Best wishes

John

Hi John Owens,
Have found Peter with ?Ann on the 1841 census with two children Edward age 4 and Amelia (could be Amelia) age 2
They are living on Bagillt St, Holy well. Peter's occupation is difficult to read but the first word looks like shoe!
Will check out 1861 now (if it's not been sorted already)

Many thanks, Lancs lassie and Carole. These are surely mine. Now, we are on a roll, let's see whether anyone can help with the 1861.

Best

Some parts of the Welsh 1861 are missing

Quote
Flintshire – Mold (Nerquis part missing, Gwsaney, Hartsheath and Hendrebiffa missing).

If you scroll down the search page of the Ancestry 1861 census - you will see the following header

Thanks again, Carole. What is it about the Welsh records. The 1841's for parts of Denbighshire are also missing.

Thanks anyway.

Best

Peter Davies - Ann Davies marriage, probably at Mold, Flint about 1836
« Reply #6 on: Saturday 20 April 13 19:07 BST (UK) »
Could anyone please help me with a marriage between Peter Davies (shoemaker, b. Holywell, 1810) and Ann Davies (b. Mold Flint, 1815) - probably at Mold in about 1836? The 1841 for Bagillt St, Holywell shows Peter with Ann and two children (Edward age 4 and Amelia age 2)?

Peter's father is John Davies. Unfortunately, no information on Ann's father.

Many thanks

Best wishes

Peter Davies (shoemaker, b. Holywell, 1810) and Ann Davies (b. Mold Flint, 1815)

Was Davies Ann's maiden name as well as her married name?

Was Ann's maiden name Davies?

There's a marriage between Peter Davies (bachelor from Mold) and Ann Ithel (spinster from Mold) at Mold on 19 Dec 1835. Witnesses: Robert Davies and Arabella Hughes.

Strangely, there's a crossed out record for banns published at Bagillt, between Peter Davies of Holywell and Anne Ithel of Mold in December 1835 (6, 13 and 20 Dec) and a note added to say 'not married'. Could they have been published in the wrong church?
