Hi Stuart

If you go to Old Maps at www.old-maps.co.uk and through the Gazetteer go to Lanark and then the alpha listing. Then click on Douglas Water on the list and there is Wolf Crooks (spelt in two words) at the bottom left (if you click on the enlarged view it comes up even better).

Alternatively, use these co-ordinates on the top left hand side  287500,636500 and then click on co-ordinate/search.

Regards.

Wolfcrooks is still there today and Old Maps shows what seems to be a row of houses/cottages. Go to www.streetmap.co.uk, choose GB Place, and enter Douglas Water and then, under the list of places, choose Douglas Water, South Lanarkshire (Town). Click 'Search' and you'll see Wolfcrooks on the left.

Hi there

From the certificate of Isabella Watson TODD birth 1882 in Carstairs
Father: William TODD Ploughman
Mother: Mary Ann Greenshields TODD, MS RODGER
Married 18 Jun 1875 Douglas LNK

This looks like the parents in 1881:

Dau: Margaret L TODD 2, b Douglas LNK
Visitor: Elizabeth C RODGER 18, unm, Servant Domestic, b Douglas LNK

YOB:
for William and Mary Ann as approx 1856

This looks like Mary Ann's parents and siblings:

IGI: all except Hugh are extracted entries
Father: James RODGER
Mother: Jane GREENSHIELDS
ISSUE:
Hugh RODGER b 1854 Dalserf, died 1882 Scotland
Mary Ann Greenshields RODGER b 13 Aug 1855 Lesmahagow LNK   (lucky  ;D 1855!!)
James RODGERS b 26 Jul 1857 Douglas LNK

But this looks to be James RODGER - a submitted IGI Record:

James RODGER
Born about 1824 Douglas LNK
Died 2 April 1891, Douglas LNK
Parents:  Hugh RODGER and Elizabeth CRAWFORD

and this looks like Mary Ann's brother Hugh RODGER in 1881, the one IGI says died 1882 - so expect he would be named after James' father:

1881:Douglas, Lanark
VOl: 641    ED 4    Pg8
ADDRESS: Curries Close

Head: Hugh RODGER 27, Gen'l Labr, b Dalserf LNK
Wife: Jane RODGER 29, b Broughton Peeble
Son: James C RODGER 5, b Douglas LNK
Dau: Jane G G RODGER 1, b Douglas LNK

Looks like good naming patterns on this side of the family!

Cheers
