McCRACKAN/McMURTRIE

Hi,

I am trying to find any information on my great great grandparents, Thomas McCrackan and Grace McMurtrie. I believe that Thomas McCrackan may have lived in the Isle of Man area and also have found him associated with Wigtown. He was a mariner and I think he was born c.1839, dying in 1905. I believe Grace was born in 1841 and died in 1923. Any information that can confirm any family members would be appreciated. I have found bits and pieces, but nothing that links the family members to the one household. I know that they had my great grandfather, Andrew (who married Agnes Brown whilst in Australia for a while). I am unsure of their other children, but believe there could have been a daughter Grace. I would love it if anyone can assist me in any way, as I am hitting brick walls, and being in Australia, am not sure what sites are best to help me.

1901 Census Thomas was born c 1839 Kirkmaiden, Wigtonshire and Grace c 1842 same place
Living at Mill St, Kirkmaiden, Thomas is now a Carriage Hirer.

1871 Thomas is with Graces Parents in Maughold, IOM;
Andrew MacMurtrie 59, Farmer of 47 Acres
Margaret, 51
Siblings;
Jemima 1850
Andrew 1856
Robert 1862
Thomas MCCRACKEN, 22, Son in Law, Mar. Master Mariner
All down as born Scotland
Grace must be elsewhere

1871 Census Grace is in Wigtonshire with Children Andrew 6, James 3.

1891 Thos/Grace are in Wigtonshire, Mother in Law Margt McMurtrie born c 1821, Drummore, Wigtonshire is with them.

From all Census Thomas and/or Grace have these Children with them;

A think Trees may have the wrong info as they have Elizabeth as nee McGaw.
No Marriage to Alexander is given though.
I actually think the McGaw comes from Alexanders Mothers maiden name.

Alex is bor c 1805 Kirkmaiden in 1851/1861/1871 Census.
