SAMUEL MILWARD b1779 Beguildery, Radnorshire
« on: Wednesday 27 March 13 14:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I've located Samuel Milward to Beguildery (b1779) and found that he married an Elizabeth Griffiths in 1809 at Whitton, Radnorshire.

However, I cannot find any parents (or grandparents etc) of Samuel Milward?

Samuel was the first (in my line of the family) to be born in Wales, he later moved into Worcestershire (England) and died in Bidford on Avon, Warwickshire, England.

Any help on Samuel's parents, grandparents etc would be very much appreciated, thank you in advance.

Hi Doran

Thanks for info, I think I may know where that info (from 'that site') may have come from, I know someone else who is trying to find similar info too.
The names do tie up with names that have passed through the generations but, like you say, how accurate is that info?

Many thanks again

I think you may be able to stitch together a lineage from the following:

The will of Robert Milward(1790 Beguildy) at the National Library of Wales,in which, amongst many others he mentions a son Samuel

http://cat.llgc.org.uk/cgi-bin/gw/chameleon?sessionid=2013032814144731091&skin=profeb&lng=en&inst=consortium&function=EXTERNAL_CONTENT&externalurltype=856u&externalurl=http%3a%2f%2fdams.llgc.org.uk%2fintegration%2fbehaviour%2fllgc-id%3a174695%2ffedora-bdef%3azoom%2fllgc-id%3a174693%2f86.155.230.240%2fen

There is also a will for Thomas Milward,(Whitton,1780) ,and as he mentions his mother Barbara, this Thomas may well be the son of Robert Milward who married Barbara Turner"at Whitton or Diserth"  Oct 25  1731.This record is also at NLW,marriage bonds and allegations.

Perhaps a relationship between Robert(1790 will) and Thomas(1780 will) can be established.

Regards
Roger

despair ... how can I begin to thank you?, that information is 'out of this world' and is above and beyond anything I expected, many many thanks.

All those names mean something and have featured heavily in the family over the ages (Thomas is still being used to this day ... my son's name).

Having worked through the wills, it does appear that Robert and Barbara are the mother and father of children, George, Robert, Thomas, James, SAMUEL and Ann (birthdates not known - yet).

Indeed, SAMUEL himself had (at least) two sons, Robert and Thomas ... names that, as said, re-occur over the ages.

Once again ... a million thanks 'despair', MUCH appreciated.

I'm not sure it adds much, but there is a bond of 1750 in the variant name spelling of Robert Millward, with rights granted to Barbara,at NLW as before.
