Hi wonder if anyone can help please hit a brick wall.
Am looking for John Hogg born 13/7/1827 Ledgerwood Scotland.Settled in Chester area 1851 and 1851 census shows Celyn House Hope Caerwrle Flintshire
 was married twice to sisters Elizabeth and Matilda nee Brookes
 Have traced him to 1878 then found newspaper article ref his son in Nov 1879 listing him as deceased.

Cannot find a death anywhere for him would be grateful of any advice

When and where was the last marriage?  Nothing on freebmd

Have you found Matilda in 1881 - is she shown as a widow?

Have you discounted the death of John Hogg born 1827 in Corwen district in Sept qtr 1879 - ref 11b 247. Corwen is not far from Caergwrle.

thanks for the reply. Yes she with her brother Jehu at  135, Gloucester Rd, St Pancras
Some of the children were send to freemasons schools.

I hadnt found that one thanks a lot been on this for over a year now lol will try investigate

Blimey!! That is fantastic thank you so much what with two marriages lots of children and many of them in freemasons schools it was difficult to trace but that ties in with what we assumed just couldnt proove .

I spotted a Hogg headstone in Gwersyllt parish church, I think he may have been a grocer ?
I can`t recall the full details, it stood out because of the fact that I know someone with that name.

DEATHS
Hogg. March 19th aged 12 years at the London Orphan Asylum, Watford . Edith youngest and beloved child of the late John Hogg of Chester and of Celyn Caergwrle.

 How sad.

 Yes found death of Edith they also had a son that drowned aged 10 also in a freemasons school  John hogg was a waggon master it is rumoured that they had their own waggons with Hogg and Co embossed in gold coloured lettering on their waggons before he started to work for the railways. It is rumoured that his business lost this business in a card game!! Have found that he was in LLangollen poss visiting  George Henry Hogg who married Sarah Ann Johnson third daughter of C.J.Johnson of rockside house, Llangollen. Will have to find where the money was lost but seemed to have a troubled life bless him
