Ann, James & Thomas Milward born Whitton, Radnorshire
« on: Monday 08 April 13 19:11 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Try as hard as I may, I have drawn a complete blank on the following children of Samuel & Elizabeth Milward of Whitton, Radnorshire ... could anyone please offer any bits of info that may help, thank you in advance of help:

Ann Milward
James Milward
Thomas Milward

All three were born circa 1760-1780 as a best guess and I'm fairly sure that Ann is the youngest of the three. There were four other brothers (George, John, Robert and Samuel) but I think I've traced them.

Thanks again in advance of any assistance.

Presume names etc are from the IGI but do you have any evidence that they survived infancy?

Hi Carole

Thanks for your reply. The three of them (and their four brothers) are all mentioned in their fathers will (dated 1789), with a reference that 'Ann was to receive her share upon reaching the age of fifteen' ... therefore I assume that, as of 1789, all three were indeed living ...

... that's all I know of, wish I could offer a bit more info, sorry.

Kind Regards

Well ... the shame of it, many apologies to anyone who has looked into this matter for me ... I have given you incorrect information, so sorry all.

The parents of the children were ROBERT & Elizabeth Milward and NOT Samuel Milward (Samuel was one of the four brothers I have managed to trace) ... and the will quoting the childrens names was made by ROBERT Milward dated 1789, not Samuel as first stated.

So, just to clarify:
Parents = ROBERT & ELIZABETH Milward
Children (born circa 1760-1780*) = ANN, JAMES & THOMAS
(Four other brothers, all traced, George, John, Robert and Samuel)

*= best guess, based on birth dates of other siblings.

Apologies once again folks ... and thanks in advance of any help.

Hi All

Sorry to become a pain but, further to the above unresolved mystery, I also have two other Milward family that I need to 'firm up' details on, if anyone can help please:

George Milward ... Fathers name, Samuel, mothers name, Elizabeth. George would have been born circa 1810-1817 as his fathers 'last will' has him as the oldest (living) child. He had a brother, Samuel*, who was born in 1812 (birth place unknown (see below) older brother perhaps?) and a brother, Thomas, born 1817 in Tenbury, Worcestershire.

Samuel Milward* ... born to same parents in 1812 (birthplace unknown). Samuel died in 1840 and is buried with his parents in Bidford on Avon, Warwickshire.

My reason for posting this message on the 'Radnorshire' message boards is that the parents, Samuel & Elizabeth were both born and married in the county. Their whereabouts until the birth of Thomas (1812 in Tenbury, Worcs) is unknown and could be anywhere really, sorry I can't be more specific.

Many thanks in advance of any help, fingers crossed.

Kind regards
Nimchimpsky

Hi All

Update ... George & Samuel Milward (in post previous to this message) now traced and acounted for, many thanks for help (received elsewhere on this site).

Still looking for any info please on Ann, James and Thomas Milward born to parents Robert & Elizabeth Milward, around the later 1800's (1870ish as a guess). I believe that Radnorshire may be the best bet for birthplace (as their brothers were born there) but I have no other proof.
The above 'Milward three' are now the only missing links to date.

Many thanks in advance of any information.

Kind Regards

Ahhh, Trish, bless you, thank you so much ... lost count of the number of times you've come to my aid, you're a star.

Whilst I had the info on George, the info on Ann is new to me and extremely positive and helpful. thank you again.
