George ABBOT and Betsy SCOTT - PARENTS OF BOTH???

I am trying to find the parents of this married couple, George ABBOT and Betsy(Could be Elizabeth) SCOTT, they were married on the 12 June 1838 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland. 
Betsy was born 11 November 1812 and died 18 June 1892.  George was born 4 June 1810 and died 20 April 1882. Sorry I don't have places for births and deaths.

Rootschat has changed since I was here last so hope I'm doing it right. :)

Did they die in Scotland? If so, the good news is that their death registrations should name their parents including mother's maiden name.

Also if they spent their married lives in Scotland there should be census entries to help you with birthplaces.

What's the source of the precise birth and death dates which you have for them?

I have no places. I found them on someones family tree. It did not state where they were born or died and I don't know if they lived in Scotland until they died.

Hmmm.

Well there's a George and Betsy Abbot in Dundee in the censuses through to 1881.  The wife as Betsy Scott Abbott (79) is still in Dundee in 1891. They had a daughter Bets(e)y in 1841 who married a David Law, with whose family they appear in those later censuses. Other children included George abt 1842-3, Jane abt 1845-6, Charles abt 1847-8, Robert abt 1849-50, Thomas abt 1854-5.

George was born abt 1810-11 Dundee.
Bets(e)y was born abt 1812-13 Cargill, Perthshire.

If these are your people (the ages seem consistent with the birthdates you've given) it would seem very likely they died in Scotland (Dundee, registration district of St Andrew), so the death registrations are by far your best bet.

Her husband shows in the censuses as David M Law, born abt 1842-3 Dundee.

One of their children was a George A Law, born abt 1867-8 Dundee.
