This researcher clearly believes that the Albert who married Elizabeth Hawse was the son of Aron and Ann http://genforum.genealogy.com/australia/messages/62594.html

Albert was still alive when Archie attested for the army in 1914 - so he definitely wasn't the one who died in 1909 http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp?B=7989933

The 1924 funeral was attended by Mr & Mrs A.E. New, Mr & Mrs L Rehardt, Mr & Mrs O Brown and Mr & Mrs O. New. It was at the Methodist Cemetery, Field of Mars

Archie Oliver New seems to have been known as Oliver Archie New. I think this is his funeral in 1949, also at the Methodist cemetery, Field of Mars. Bottom of column 5:

It seems that Lachlan Rehardt married Victoria Adelaide New, and the 1884 birth record shows that she was the daughter of Albert New and Elizabeth Hawse.

I think we are there now.The Albert New who married Elizabeth Hawse died in Drummoyne in 1924 and was the son of Aron/Arron/Aaron New who emigrated with his family on the Shooting Star in 1858.  Not a son of Thomas New and Elizabeth Haggard as was suggested.

The trouble is there are too many Albert's. Hopefully I can clear this up today when my cousin visits us for lunch. He is the son of Oliver Archie New (known as Archie) and hopefully he can shed some light on this dilemma.

Should mention that Swindon was  part of Highworth registration district until 1899 http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/highworth.html and also that part of Highworth RD (part of Inglesham parish) was in Berkshire until 1881.

Inglesham is now part of the borough of Swindon.

Stratton St Margaret (where Aron New lived in 1851) is around 3 miles north of Swindon town and 7 miles south of Inglesham
